Excerpt—

Abigail loved me just because.

But, when I saw the other shiny and perfect toys in Abigail’s room, I felt like I did in the store: I’m just purple.

I drifted away, down the hall. Meteor came in the front door and we bumped into each other as Wind WHOOSH! carried me into the darkness of night.

Meteor barked “Come back Balloon!”

“Trust me,” said Wind as I snagged a tree branch.

“Whooo are you?” asked Owl.

“I’m just a purple balloon.”
